Fyoozd 2 – What Gameplay Features Would You Like To See?
February 23, 2013
It’s been roughly 18 months since the release of our unique take on Match 3 puzzle games Fyoozd. It started as a quick 2 week experimental game project and I certainly wasn’t expecting the kind of success it’s achieved.
It’s gets over 30,000 plays per day (with a roughly 90% return rate) and that number is steadily going up day by day. Not bad for a game that was literally thrown together. I think it’s about time to think about developing the idea and create an improved sequel.
The original game was kept simple, just because it was such a huge departure from how people expect match 3 puzzle games to work. I did originally intend to include power ups and some other extras, but at the time just felt it would make the game too complicated. Now the game has clearly been picked up and is loved by so many, I don’t think it’s such a big issue. Or maybe I’m just underestimating player’s ability to grasp how to play.
Anyway, I’ve been going through player feedback lately and there seem to be some common suggestions that come up (most notably the desire to extend or ditch the time limit). I’d really like to hear what you think, what you like about the original game, what you don’t like and what you’d like to see in the sequel. I also expect to have the game in open beta testing so you can play the game and make suggestions during development.
I’m hoping to start developing Fyoozd 2 soon and I really hope to get this one onto mobile platforms as well as a web based Flash version, so I’ll be thinking about designing with this in mind from the off.
Please use the comments below to post your feedback on the original Fyoozd along with ideas and suggestions for the sequel. Don’t be shy, I’ll be reading all your posts and you never know, what you say may have an effect in shaping the new game.
